Shampoo
Find the shampoo that's right for you
Shampoo is used to cleanse the hair of the buildup of natural oils dirt, skin particles, dandruff, environmental pollutants and other gradually built-up contaminants. The goal of shampoo is to remove all these unwanted elements from hair without stripping too many of the hair's natural factors, thus making it unmanageable.
Shampoo is available for many different hair types (dry, oily, colored, permed, straight, curly) and in many different fragrances. When choosing a shampoo, it is important to choose the correct shampoo for your hair – if the wrong one is chosen, the results could be the exact opposite of what was intended.
Different Types of Shampoo
Dandruff Shampoo
Dandruff shampoo is used to help control dandruff buildup on the scalp. Dandruff is an excessive shedding of dead skin from the scalp and is sometimes caused from extreme exposure to heat or cold. Dandruff shampoos contain fungicides that reduce loose dander, thus reducing the amount of dandruff buildup on your scalp.
Dry Hair Shampoo
Dry hair shampoo, also known as moisturizing shampoo, is used to replenish the moisture content of your hair. If you find that your hair is brittle or frizzy, you may be in need of a moisturizing shampoo.
Natural Shampoo
Natural shampoos, also known as "all-natural," "organic," "botanical" or "plant-derived" shampoos combine the use of regular shampoo ingredients with natural ingredients. The purpose of natural shampoo is to minimize your exposure to the harsher ingredients found in everyday shampoos, thus making this shampoo gentler on your hair.
2 in 1 Shampoo
2 in 1 shampoo is a combination of shampoo and conditioner in one easy step. 2 in 1 shampoos are available to people with many different types of hair, but are not necessarily for everybody. If your hair is not frizzy or brittle you do not need to use a 2 in 1 shampoo, and if your hair is permed, be sure to choose one that is not too heavy, as it will weigh your curls down.
